How To Disassemble Dell XPS 15 9550 To Upgrade RAM, SSD, HDD

In this post, I will show you how to disassemble Dell XPS 15 9550, I will remove the ram, SSD, battery, bottom case, cooling fan and motherboard. Refer to the guides to repair, upgrade and clean your XPS 15 9550.

Remove twelve screws securing the bottom case.
There are two screws under the little cover, open the cover and remove two screws.
The bottom case can be removed easily.

Under the bottom case, you can get access the SSD, RAM, WLAN, speakers, heat sink and cooling fan.

The Dell XPS 15 9550 come with an 84wh Li-ion battery.

The Dell XPS 15 9550 has two RAM memory slots, come with two 8GB RAM memory, total 16GB.
Some XPS 15 9550 come with two 4GB RAM, you can upgrade it to two 8GB DDR4 2133MHz RAM.

Dell XPS 15 9550 cooling fan

Dell XPS 15 9550 features a dual copper pipe heat sink.
If you want to clean the cooling fan, just remove six screws securing the heat sink, remove four screws securing two cooling fan, and disconnect the cooling fan cable from motherboard.

The Dell XPS 15 9550 come with Samsung 512GB PM951 NVMe SSD.
You can upgrade to the high-end SSD, such as Samsung SM951, Samsung 950 PRO 512G.
